Paid-For Iraq Stories "Concern" White House

"It's certainly an issue that's easy to get emotional about, and we need to understand the facts, and when we do I'll provide you as much information as I can," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said.

Wow, the Bush administration paying for and planting stories in the media? It's just in keeping with their pattern since 2001. If they've been doing this in the US with Judith Miller, Armstrong Williams, the faux news reports distributed to the networks, Jeff Gannon, etc., is anyone surprised that they would use propaganda more flagrantly in Iraq? Let's hear it for democracy and a free and independent press, Mr. Bush and Cheney.

300+ CIA flights have landed at European airports

The Guardian said the flight logs revealed that the CIA visited Germany 96 times and Britain 80 times, though when charter flights were added this figure rose to more than 200. France was only visited twice and Austria not at all, the newspaper said. The logs also showed regular trips to eastern Europe, including 15 stops in Prague. "Only one visit is recorded to the Szymany airbase in northeast Poland, which has been identified as the alleged site of a secret CIA jail," The Guardian reported.
